After the release of Disney’s live-action retelling of Aladdin, it quickly became one of Disney’s highest-grossing properties of the year. The movie which starred Ritchie-helmed, Will Smith and a host of others generated a total of 1.051 Billion dollars at Box office.
At the end of the first film Jasmine became the Sultan which is deviation from the animated classic. As far as villains go, it seems safe to assume Jafar isn’t truly gone, but it’s also possible Disney might introduce a new antagonist. It all depends on what sort of storylines the filmmakers are planning to pursue.
John Gatins (Flight) and Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton) have been reportedly tasked with scriptwriting duties. Other than that, details surrounding returning cast remain unclear.
With the sequel still in its early stages, it will probably be a while until it finally hits theaters. With any luck, we’ll receive updates when it begins filming.
